Description
El Beat is a project that, heavily inspired in magical realism, attempts to tell the story of Colombian african american Palenque culture, through 3 different, yet intertwined pieces. A short film, a VR experiencie and an Augmented Reality installation. I was involved in the latter, developing a quadraphonic interactive sound system that inmerses visitors in a surreal 3D mapped jungle landscape, and allows visitors to play a Marimbula (traditional african/african-american instrument) wired to the system, triggering musical, visual and sonic behaviors in the space. This project has been displayed in numerous events and venues worldwide such as the, Asia Culture Center(Seoul, Korea), Art VR Festival(Prague, Czech Republic), SXWS(Austin, U.S.), Festival de Cine Autodisruptivo(Quibdó, Colombia), Bogoshorts(Bogotá, Colombia), among many others.
